February 13, 2008 Update

We are all getting excited about our upcoming softball tournament! The tournament is scheduled for May 3, 2008 at Renaissance Park in Charlotte, NC.  The flyers are on the home page, so feel free to print them off & pass them out!  And remember, we are non-profit, so your personal and business donations may be tax deductible!

On another note, Luke has his 2nd appointment at Johns Hopkins on February 18th & 19th.  We will let you know how the appointment goes.

Thanks to everyone for your support!  We hope you are having a happy 2008, & we look forward to seeing you at the tournament!

November 8, 2007 Update

We have some great news to share with all of you!  We are now non-profit (501 (c) 3).  That is such a great honor and priviledge, and we are so thrilled to see what the future will bring.

We also wanted to share our fundraising accomplishments.  In our first year, we have raised over $14,000.00!

Thank you to all of our supporters, sponsors & volunteers.  We could not have been successful without your help!

October 20, 2007 Update

What a whirlwind this fall has been!  We completed our first annual softball tournament last weekend.  It was a long day and an even longer 8 months of planning, but it was all worth it!  We welcomed 12 teams in all and enjoyed a full day of competition and fun.  We had some great responses from our silent auction and even raffled off an autographed Carolina Panthers football!

We do not have any other events planned for the immediate future, but our plan is that spring 2008 should bring another event your way!

Thanks, as always, for your wonderful support.  Luke and the Foundation appreciate all you have done and continue to do!

October 2, 2007 Update

We successfully completed our first fundraiser at Blue Restaurant on September 23rd, thanks to all of you!  We had a great turn-out and lots of fun at the event.  Blue was so gracious to us, and they did such a great job helping us set up for the silent auction.

Speaking of the silent auction, come to the softball tournament on October 13th to check out the items that were left over.  You will have a great opportunity to bid on some amazing items donated to us for the auction!

We are all very busy now preparing for the softball tournament.  We have had some last-minute teams sign up, so the tournament should be a great success as well!  If you are interested in playing or volunteering, check out our softball tournament page for more information.  And don't forget to tell your friends to come enjoy the fun and competition!

I'm sure many of you are wondering, so here is your Luke update.  He is having a great month.  He was so excited about attending the show at Blue and had a great time meeting all the people there.  He was even photographed walking the red carpet since he was the guest of honor!  Now he is really excited about the softball tournament and can't wait to see all of you there.

As always, check back often for updates.  And let us know if you have any suggestions for our website.  Just send us an email!

Second Appointment at Johns Hopkins

August 29, 2007 Update

Luke had his appointments at Johns Hopkins on Monday & Tuesday. We are, in a way, back to square 1 because the specialists at Johns Hopkins want to see Luke again in 6 months so they can monitor the changes in his aorta as well as other physical changes to help determine the relationship between a connective tissue disorder and the aneurysm.  The doctors want to make a well-educated diagnosis before labeling Luke's condition.

We are happy with the doctors at Johns Hopkins, and we know that Luke is in the best possible care right now.  So, as it stands now, Luke is to continue living as he has been the past several months, and they will evaluate his changes in 6 months.

August 26, 2007 Update

Luke is getting ready for his big appointments at the Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Marfan Center that are scheduled for Monday & Tuesday. Children's Flight of Hope is flying Luke, Mark & Vikki up to Baltimore on Monday morning and will fly them home Tuesday evening after the appointments. We want to send a very special THANK YOU to them for choosing us for a flight to these very important initial appointments at Johns Hopkins!

Check back later this week for an update from the doctors at Johns Hopkins!

We also wanted to update you & let you know that we are still looking for teams for our softball tournament! So, sign up today - it will be a great event!

And keep checking website because we have another exciting fundraiser in the works...more details soon!

July 19, 2007 Update

The flyers are finalized, and the plans are underway for the tournament in September.  Please feel free to print them & pass them out.  You can access the flyers on our Fundraisers & Events page.

On another subject, Luke had an appointment yesterday with a local pediatric cardiologist.  This doctor will be Luke's back-up physician in case of emergency, but Johns Hopkins will still remain the primary contact.  The other children will have their echocardiograms done at this local cardiologist's office in August.  That way the echos will be completed before Luke's first appointment at Johns Hopkins.

As always, thank you for your support, & don't forget about the Softball Tournament!

July 9, 2007 Update

We have a date set for our first major fundraiser - a Softball Tournament!  With the help of some local event planners we are making great strides in the planning and advertising stages of the tournament.

The fundraising goal has not been set, but so far we hope to have approximately 20-30 teams participate in the tournament.

Check back soon because we will be posting the event flier once the details are finalized!
